On Tuesday this week I presented at the SharePoint User Group in Orlando which was organised by Randy Drisgill and John Ross. The evening started with a presentation from Sara Windhorst on troubleshooting techniques with SharePoint 2007 and 2010, followed by a presentation by myself (Brett Lonsdale) introducing Business Connectivity Services.
After a quick review of the Business Data Catalog and how that was used within MOSS 2007, we jumped into the topic of what is new with Business Connectivity Services and demonstrated new features such as External Lists, Enterprise Content Types, Offline capabilities with tools such as Outlook and SharePoint Workspace while also taking a good tour of the new tools in SharePoint Designer and Visual Studio.
Copies of our BDC book were given out for people with good questions, and the question that were asked were great and proved that the audience listened to the presentation! 🙂
If you didn’t get chance to attend the session, the BCS presentation will be repeated SharePoint Saturday (Tampa) on the 14th November at Microsoft. You may also download the slides using this link.
I want to thank John and Randy for the opportunity to present and look forward t becoming an active member of the usergroup.
