SharePoint Conference 2012

Lightning Tools (Sandy Ussia, Nick Swan, Phill Duffy, Richard Young and I) are all set for the SPC 2012 in Vegas w/c 12th November 2012 and have a lot to announce and giveaway!

Nick Swan (SharePoint MVP) and co-founder of Lightning Tools will be presenting “How to write a cloud-hosted app for SharePoint with Ruby on Rails”. This session will demonstrate how you can build a cloud-hosted app for SharePoint with Ruby on Rails. This session will cover how to connect to data sources and use the SharePoint REST end-points within a Ruby on Rails app.

We’ll be showing off new products for the Microsoft SharePoint App Store including Social Squared (Discussion Forum) and Lightning Chat (in-context instant messaging for SharePoint users). We’ll also have a Data View Web Part for SharePoint 2013, a new version of Meta Man and a new version of DeliverPoint.

Data Viewer Web Part – Configure a Data View from within the browser and connect to: BCS, REST, WCF, SQL, Oracle, ODBC, OData and more…

Meta Man will be a stand alone product once again allowing you to connect to external data without having to use SharePoint Designer or Visual Studio. You’ll be able to connect to virtually any external data source.

DeliverPoint now supports Secure Store and has undergone many improvements to the timer jobs.

We’ll also have 100 copies of our SharePoint 2010 Business Connectivity Services book to giveaway. Authors Brett Lonsdale (me), Phill Duffy and Penny Coventry (SharePoint MVP) will be giving them away from our booth (Number 1111) at 1pm each day.

Brett and Nick will also be hanging around the SharePointPodShow.com booth if anyone would like to be interview or just say hi to Brett, Rob and Nick.
