Business of Software Conference 2009

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Business of Software conference 2009 in San Francisco. Having been at the SharePoint Conference a couple of weeks earlier in Las Vegas I didn’t fancy getting on a plane again and the thought had crossed my mind of not going – thank god I did as it was the best conference I’ve ever been to! A lot of SharePointers will ask ‘what about SPC09?’, but with Lightning Tools having an exhibitor stand there that conference was working 9-5 for me and I didn’t get to attend any sessions.

This conference, as the title would suggest, was more about the business side of running a software company rather than writing code. I would say a large percentage of the attendees are or were developers before moving into other roles in their companies. It was great to get lots of new ideas from the presentations and also have a chance to chat with others who are in the software business.

If there’s one conference you can get to next year I’d make sure it is the 2010 Business of Software Conference – registration for next year will be up on the site soon apparently.
