This was my second time to SPTechCon, but my first time to SPTechCon in Boston. SPTechCon kicked off with a day of workshops before the actual conference began. My day started with a 3 hour Business Data Catalog session. I was initially worried about the number of attendees since it was a 2007 subject and not 2010. However, the room was packed and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to go in depth on the subject. I covered the basics right through to the ADF and the Object Model. Straight after the BDC session, I started my 3 hour session on Business Connectivity Services. One thing that shocked me was that approximately 1/2 the audience from the BDC session was in the BCS session. That meant I had to quickly think of new jokes and also try and expand further on some of the topics that were similar. Pretty jet lagged and nursing a cold and having talked constantly for six hours, I went out with good friends to an Afghan restaurant. The food was excellent! 🙂
The next day I did a 1 hour session on comparing data access methods which included the Data View Web Part, Custom Development and BCS. Again the session was well attended.
I then noticed the vast amount of attendees in the exhibit hall, this had to be the busiest exhibit hall I have seen at a conference in a long time. Although I was a little put off by the Morph with the big packet.
If ever your in Boston, I strongly recommend the Freedom Trail and the Sam Adams brewery!
Well done to everyone at BZMedia for organizing a great conference!
