Last week, the Lightning Tools team headed to Irving, Texas for Microsoft TechCon 365, held at the Irving Convention Center. As Gold Sponsors, we were proud to support an event that continues to bring together the Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Azure, and AI communities for learning, networking, and innovation.

Representing Lightning Tools on-site were Brett Lonsdale, Matt Beighton, and Jarrad Carter, who spent the week engaging with customers, partners, and attendees at our booth. It was fantastic to see familiar faces, meet new organizations exploring governance and forms solutions, and share how our products help organizations stay in control of permissions, content, and automation across Microsoft 365.

DeliverPoint in the Spotlight

Brett Lonsdale delivered a session focused on DeliverPoint, showing how Site Owners can take charge of SharePoint permissions, manage sharing links, and apply sensitivity labels effectively. This session couldn’t have been more timely—just after the keynote panel, “AI Roundup: Navigating the Frontier of Innovation,” which explored AI and Copilot readiness and highlighted the crucial role of security and permission governance in ensuring responsible AI adoption.

The keynote featured an incredible lineup of speakers including Christian Buckley, Susan Hanley, Laura Rogers, Fabian Williams, David Drever, Wes Preston, Treb Gatte, and Mark Rackley, setting the tone for three days of thought-provoking sessions and collaboration.

Beyond the Booth

Of course, no Lightning Tools trip would be complete without a few memorable moments outside the convention hall. Before the event kicked off, the team took a day to explore The Fort Worth Stockyards—a true Texas experience complete with cowboy hats, brisket, and longhorns.

Back at our “conveniently located” hotel next to the convention center, we quickly discovered that “next door” didn’t quite mean “easy to reach.” Each morning’s commute involved a small adventure—scaling five-foot walls, balancing along storm drains, and crossing what we later named “Turtle Bay” after spotting turtles basking in the sun. It became an unexpected highlight of the week and a running joke throughout the conference!

Looking Ahead

TechCon 365 Dallas once again delivered excellent content, community spirit, and a great atmosphere for knowledge sharing. Congratulations to the organizers for putting on another successful event. We’re already looking forward to the next one—FabCon in Atlanta next year

Hitting SharePoint storage limits rarely happens overnight. It’s the result of years of unchecked versions, duplicate files, and unmanaged Teams. Learn what Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 really give you, the warning signs you’re close to the limit, and how to regain control before storage becomes a business problem.

To reduce complexity, improve adoption, and deliver real outcomes, we’ve grouped our products into three focused bundles—Governance & Control, Forms & Automation, and Engagement & Intranet. Each bundle solves a distinct business problem on its own, and together they create a joined-up, business-led approach to running SharePoint and Microsoft 365 at scale—without disconnected products, unnecessary complexity, or losing control.
