Lightning Tools, a leading provider of innovative SharePoint and M365 tools, is excited to announce that it has reached a tentative agreement to acquire the assets of Kudzu Software Inc., a recognized leader in converting legacy forms and data to modern low and no code automation platforms. This strategic acquisition will enhance Lightning Tool’s form product portfolio while also providing opportunities to engage with customers moving to Microsoft’s Power Platform or other low and no code automation solutions.

Under the terms of the tentative agreement, Lightning Tools will acquire the intellectual property, customer contracts, and other significant assets of Kudzu Software Inc. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, with both parties working diligently towards finalizing the terms and completing the transaction promptly.

“This acquisition is a pivotal step in our journey to become the leading provider of SharePoint forms solutions,” said Brett Lonsdale, CEO of Lightning Tools. He added, “Kudzu Software’s impressive AI-powered form conversion and generation capabilities align perfectly with our strategic goals.  We will look for opportunities to integrate some of the platform’s capabilities into our Lightning Forms and Forms Studio offerings, while continuing to support customers that want to move existing form experiences to other low and no code offerings. ”

Kudzu Software Inc. has been at the forefront of replacing legacy form solutions like InfoPath, Nintex, and others with its patented conversion process. “We’ve been working with Lightning Tools as a reseller and technology partner for nearly three years and have been very impressed with the team and their no code SharePoint form offerings.  From that partnership, it’s clear to me that this acquisition will be a huge net-positive for our customers and partners,” said Rob D’Oria, CTO of Kudzu Software Inc. “While I and others will not be joining the Lightning Tools team directly as part of the acquisition, we will be very hands-on and involved in the transition of engineering and support functions.  We look forward to working with Brett and the rest of the Lightning Tools family on ensuring a smooth transition for Kudzu customers and partners.”

The acquisition is expected to close by 31st March 2025, after which switchover processes for customers and partners will commence. Lightning Tools and Kudzu Software want to assure all stakeholders that a smooth transition is of utmost importance.

Microsoft has announced that the “Visualize the List” and “Visualize the Library” options in SharePoint will be retired next month (November 2025)! These built-in features gave users a quick way to create Power BI reports directly from their lists and libraries without leaving SharePoint.

SharePoint’s standard lookup column only lets you connect lists within the same site—useful, but limited. With the latest release of Lightning Forms and Forms Studio, you can now create lookup fields that pull data from external systems like SQL, JIRA, and Salesforce using Copilot Connectors. In this post, I’ll show you how we built a Helpdesk Issues form that pulls related issues directly from JIRA, and explain the difference between Lightning Forms and Forms Studio.
