Social Squared is an Enterprise Discussion Forum tool, that enables organizations to improve communication through discussion forums. If ever you tried the SharePoint Discussion List, then this is that, only hundreds of times better! Social Squared offers users the ability to discuss topics centrally rather than through email. Social Squared content is organized by Forums and Forum Groups giving structure and organization to conversations. This allows for an easy to navigate knowledge base of questions and answers, or general communication within Team Sites that can also span multiple team sites allowing contextual contributions. Users are awarded for their efforts and collaboration through gamification, seeing their answers approved, and topics rated or voted upon.
Social Squared was initially available for SharePoint 2007 through to SharePoint 2016 for our on-premises customers. Two years ago, Social Squared was also launched for Office 365 SharePoint Online as a provider hosted add-in. The add-in model meant that deployment and configuration was more complex than it needed to be. We are therefore delighted to give you a sneak preview of the new SPFx version of Social Squared which will provide Enterprise Forums to both SharePoint 2019 and SharePoint Online customers.
Social Squared offers a logical and organized layout, whilst offering all of the features that you would expect from an enterprise discussion tool such as Moderation, Likes, Ratings, Voting, Reply via Email, Post via Email and more.
Our On-Premises version provided SharePoint developers with the ability to customize the theme of Social Squared using CSS, Images, and User Controls. However, the SPFx version simply adopts the theme applied to the SharePoint site containing the App, meaning that it will automatically apply any custom branding that you have applied to your SharePoint sites.
The SPFx version is so much easier to configure. Simply click the cog icon to enter the settings dialog, and begin adding new Forum Groups, Forums, and tweak the settings of each forum.
Creating a topic provides you with a beautiful editor, allowing images to simply be pasted into the Rich Text box, and full intuitive formatting options can be applied to your content.

Social Squared now offers flat or threaded views, allowing for easier reading of posts and to understand the order of posts.
