Webinar – Business Connectivity Services retirement – What’s the alternative?

11th January 2024

The webinar will address the upcoming deprecation of Business Connectivity Services (BCS) and present alternative solutions. Brett Lonsdale from Lightning Tools will be leading the session, where he’ll showcase alternatives to BCS. The first demonstration will be on Microsoft’s official alternative, Power Apps.

The session will provide a practical demonstration of how to use Power Apps as a substitute for BCS. Power Apps is a comprehensive tool for building custom apps without extensive coding, and its capabilities make it a suitable replacement for the functionalities offered by BCS.

Additionally, the webinar will delve into another alternative solution: The Data Viewer with External Connectors. This approach enables the integration of on-premises and cloud-based data into SharePoint Online. The session will guide participants on how to leverage this tool to create dynamic lists of external data within SharePoint Online. This includes exploring features such as charting and connected one-to-many web parts.

By the end of the webinar, participants should have a clear understanding of the alternatives available post-BCS deprecation and be equipped with practical knowledge on implementing Microsoft’s Power Apps and The Data Viewer with External Connectors for seamless integration of on-premises and cloud-based data into SharePoint Online. The focus will be on creating dynamic lists, incorporating charts, and utilizing connected web parts to enhance data visualization and interaction.
