  • DeliverPoint 6.2.0.0 Brings Hero Link Governance and Orphaned Site Management

DeliverPoint 6.2.0.0 is coming in October 2026, bringing new ways to govern sharing, identify ownerless SharePoint sites and give Site Owners more control without overcrowding their menus.

This release focuses on a simple goal: make SharePoint permissions and sharing governance easier to understand and act on. Administrators gain visibility of Microsoft Hero Links alongside standard Sharing Links, while the new Orphaned Sites Report helps teams find sites without an accountable owner and fix the problem directly in DeliverPoint. We have also adopted the latest SharePoint Framework fly-out menu extensions so more reporting, management and auditing capabilities can be offered to Site Owners in a clean, organised experience.

What is new in DeliverPoint 6.2.0.0?

  • Hero Link reporting and management alongside existing Sharing Link capabilities.
  • A new Orphaned Sites Report to discover SharePoint sites with no owner and assign one.
  • New SPFx fly-out menus that expose more DeliverPoint functionality to Site Owners without cluttering the SharePoint command bar.

Microsoft introduced Hero Links as a more secure and controlled way to share files in Microsoft 365. Each file has a single Hero Link through which access is managed, regardless of whether it is copied, emailed or taken from the browser. This reduces the proliferation of separate sharing links and gives owners a consistent way to control who can access the content. A custom title, description and thumbnail also help recipients understand what they are opening. The rollout is tracked in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap under feature ID 492622.

That improved sharing experience introduces another link type for governance teams to monitor. DeliverPoint 6.2.0.0 brings Hero Links into the same reporting and management experience as standard Sharing Links. Administrators can identify where these links have been created, review their scope and audience, inspect permissions and act when access no longer reflects business requirements.

This gives security, compliance and content owners a more complete picture of external and internal sharing. Instead of treating Hero Links as a separate blind spot, they can be reviewed as part of established permission and sharing processes. Find ownerless sites with the Orphaned Sites Report

Every SharePoint site should have an accountable owner. Ownership becomes unclear when people change roles, leave the organisation or complete the project for which a site was created. These orphaned sites can remain active, retain sensitive content and continue to accumulate permissions without anyone taking responsibility for access reviews, membership or lifecycle decisions.

The new Orphaned Sites Report in DeliverPoint 6.2.0.0 makes these gaps visible. You can discover sites that do not have an owner, review the affected locations and use the Assign Owner action to restore accountability.

This supports a practical ownership policy: every active site has a named person who can validate access, manage membership and decide whether the site should be retained, archived or removed. Microsoft also provides guidance for establishing a SharePoint site ownership policy; DeliverPoint helps turn that policy into an actionable operational process.

More Site Owner control with cleaner SPFx fly-out menus

DeliverPoint provides powerful reporting and bulk-management functions, but making every command visible at once can quickly crowd a SharePoint menu. Version 6.2.0.0 takes advantage of the newer SharePoint Framework support for grouping ListView Command Set actions into fly-out menus, introduced with SharePoint Framework 1.23.

Grouped fly-out menus make more DeliverPoint commands available without cluttering the SharePoint interface.

The result is a cleaner experience that gives Site Owners access to more of the tools they need, including bulk reporting and management of permissions, sharing and auditing. Related commands are grouped logically, so owners can find the right action faster while the SharePoint interface stays focused.

Stronger governance without slowing down Site Owners

Together, these improvements help organisations balance central oversight with distributed ownership:

  • Governance teams can include Hero Links in sharing reviews and investigations.
  • Administrators can identify ownership gaps before they become security or compliance issues.
  • Site Owners can perform more day-to-day permission, sharing and audit work for their own sites.
  • Everyone benefits from a clearer, less cluttered SharePoint experience.

DeliverPoint continues to centralise permission reporting while enabling the people closest to each site to take appropriate action.
